Friends Community Garden

"True godliness does not turn men out of the world, but enables them to live better in it and excites their endeavors to mend it."

William Penn

We are an organic community garden sponsored by Old Haverford Friends Meeting, the oldest house of worship in Delaware County. Our mission is to build a community of gardeners who believe organic gardening is a way to nurture and protect our planet's resources.

Friends Community Garden is open to everyone, regardless of religion, race or ethnicity.

We offer 36 plots, approximately 20 by 25 feet. The plots are located in the back field of our historic cemetery on Eagle Road, caddy corner from the old Oakmont School in Havertown, Pennsylvania.

All gardening must be ORGANIC, meaning no petrochemical-derived pesticides or fertilizers will be permitted. Lumber used for constructing raised beds may not be "treated" lumber, and any weed barriers installed must be biodegradable.

Current gardeners may reserve a plot for $35 per growing season, payable to Old Haverford Friends Meeting, by December 1. All others should email garden [at] oldhaverford.org to be placed on a waiting list. Contact us. Prospective gardeners are also encouraged to download our agreement.
